Theme, context: Nestled in a prime residential neighbourhood in northern Bucharest, PERSON-A is a fashion concept store which occupies the compact and restrictive commercial ground floor of a semi-detached house. Despite its limited footprint, the space needed to transcend its physical constraints and immerse visitors in the brand's distinct identity. A key challenge was controlling ambient light to craft an atmospheric setting that felt both intimate and expansive. The showroom had to strike a delicate balance-filtering out specific views to the outside world while allowing just enough natural light to contribute to the immersive experience. Equally critical was the precise calibration of space: ensuring that the clothing pieces could be appreciated in their full aesthetic and conceptual depth, while also allowing customers to move freely, unencumbered by spatial limitations. This project wasn't just about designing a showroom-it was about shaping an environment that harmonised brand identity, spatial experience, and human interaction. Concept: As visitors step into PERSON - A, they are transported into a realm that feels like a different world. Flowing curtains and a striking totem-like sculpture bearing the brand's logo greet them at the entrance, signalling the beginning of a journey. These curtains are not just decorative elements; they serve as a symbolic threshold, inviting guests to leave the everyday behind and step into a space where identity and persona intertwine. At the heart of the showroom stands an elliptical structure-a striking centrepiece that functions as both a garment display and an interactive "persona machine." Clothes are subtly suspended within this sculptural form, while the brushed stainless steel surface reflects the viewer's image, merging the self with the persona they project. This interplay of reflection and presence deepens the visitor's engagement, transforming a simple act of browsing into an introspective experience. A hallway, draped in the same immersive curtains, leads to the fitting room-a private sanctuary where guests can explore the tension between authenticity and aspiration. While most of the showroom is enveloped in soft, flowing materials, select sections remain exposed, revealing textured surfaces that subtly anchor the space to reality. This dialogue between softness and structure, concealment and exposure, mirrors the ongoing interplay between identity and persona. PERSON - A is not merely a showroom; it is an experiential space where architecture and fashion converge to challenge perceptions, encouraging introspection and self-discovery.
